Today’s News: A day before the fate of the world is decided

1) Obama’s Tax Plan Sucks For Nearly Everyone, McCain’s Doesn’t.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

Here’s how average tax bills could change in 2009 if the candidates’ tax proposals were fully in effect.* An average decline doesn’t mean everyone’s bill in a given group would fall, nor does an average increase imply everyone’s bill goes up.
                   MCCAIN              OBAMA
Your Income      Avg. tax bill      Avg. tax bill
————-   —————    —————
Over $2.9M      -$577,148          +$699,872
$603K and up    -$109,214          +$121,689
$227K-$603K     -$15,877           +$942
$161K-$227K     -$6,322            -$2,796
$112K-$161K     -$3,736            -$2,135
$66K-$112K      -$1,487            -$1,264
$38K-$66K       -$608              -$1,118
$19K-$38K       -$259              -$892
Under $19K      -$65               -$567

* Not all proposals are slated for 2009. Example: Obama’s proposal to increase what high-income earners must pay into Social Security. The campaign said such a measure wouldn’t take effect for 10 years.

if you look closely at the numbers, you’ll see that under Obama’s plan, people who make between $38,000 and $66,000 (which includes most city-dwellers with a steady job) could save up to a whopping $510 more than people under McCain’s plan, and Obama’s plan would save $633 more for people who make $19k to $38k, (which includes anyone with a minimum wage full time job).  Other than the $502 more for people under $19k, ALL other tax brackets stand to have substantially better returns under McCain than under Obama. Obama actually wants to increase some people’s taxes by nearly $700,000! That means what they pay now + an additional $700,000!
Is getting revenge on the rich and getting the equivalent of $1.37 ~ $1.39 a day back on your taxes really worth forfeiting several of your Constitutional freedoms and putting a critic of our government with terrorist ties into the highest office of the land?

As a side note, i heard a funny interview montage tonight of Obama/Biden’s shifting ‘tax cut bracket’. It started out that the ‘middle class’ were those who made $250,000, then became $200,000, then became $150,000, then $120,000, and recently has gone a couple other bumps down to $65,000.  I hope people realise how well that exposes Obama/Biden’s being out-of-touch with what the “Middle Class” really is, as well as revealing their lack of a solid plan.

2) 2nd Probe Finds Palin Did NOT Violate Ethics Law In Firing Her Ex-Brother In Law

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) — Alaska’s Personnel Board concluded Monday that Gov. Sarah Palin did not violate ethics law by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired from the state police, contradicting an earlier investigation’s findings.

“There is no probable cause to believe that the governor, or any other state official, violated the Alaska Executive Ethics Act in connection with these matters,” Timothy Petumenos, the Anchorage lawyer hired to conduct the investigation, wrote in his final report.

interesting that an independent (i.e., not hired by the democrats) probe did NOT find palin had done anything wrong in firing a violent man who was harrassing his exes family, sleeping on the job, and pulling guns on elderly men from his office as an ‘officer of the peace’.  hmmm.
