About: Motivation?

Warning: The following contains scripture and commentary based on that scripture. It is intended to provide some of the context of my motivations for my internet presence, and is not in any way a personal attack on any individual. My interpretations of scripture also should not reflect directly upon any specific religious organization – they are my own independent interpretations.

I began “InfoRodeo” in 2007 as a response to one-sided media. All media is biased in one form or another, and it’s difficult for modern folk – with all their running around, trying to get a $5 coffee before work and shuffle the kids to soccer practice after work – to spend much time analyzing the things they read. I thought it was funny that people were quoting Comedy Central and Saturday Night Live in their cafe political debates, but when I realized they weren’t joking & were actually believing what they read or saw, I decided to take action.

Unfortunately, I first tested the waters without an anonymous identity, and I quickly lost a lot of old-time friends.  It’s amazing how strongly some people want to hold onto their impressed beliefs!

Over the past year, I’ve realized that a lot of debates between what I feel are the truth and what is popularly ‘the truth’ boil down to my faith.  Some important scripture pertaining to this blog are as follows:

Isaiah 5:
  20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
  21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
  22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
  23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

for example: calling people who oppose “gay marriage” that they are hateful bigots … or those who believe creationism that they are backward and “in the dark ages” because they oppose “science”. Many of the things that were formerly (for thousands of years!) considered “good” – and are still considered good by God – are now scorned by those who consider themselves “enlightened”, or “wise in their own eyes”. Because of this, the wicked are indeed held up on a pedestal, paraded around, given high positions in society, followed by cult-like masses … while those few righteous who remain are attacked or ignored.

  2 Timothy 3:
  1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
  2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
  3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
  4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
  5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
  6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
  7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

as mentioned above, there is a pride that comes from believing they are “more intelligent” because of their sophistry. They love themselves because of it, they boast, they are proud. Covetous? In our consumer-oriented, credit-laden society, how could you believe otherwise? And blasphemy is common place … it is taken lightly in music and movies, in everyday speech, and OMG! text messages. “without natural affection” I’ve always thought was related to other scripture where it says men will “seek after strange flesh”. I think this means “casual sex” and adultery, regardless the gender combination participating. Regardless whatever abuses of the word “love” may enter into such an act, these are acts of lust, not true love – and certainly outside the bonds of marriage, they are acts of transgression against God’s laws. “Divers lusts” have their own alternative lifestyles sections in newspapers and on the internet. I see “fierce” every time I’ve found myself in an argument with some liberal protester. “Despisers of those that are good” is all too frequent. When was the last time you heard someone crack a joke about “organized religion” or “conservatives holding onto their bibles and their guns”? As their consciences are “seared with a hot iron”, many people who aren’t living they way they know they should be become offended and falsely accuse members of religions of “judging” them. Despite all the knowledge they seem to be heaping to themselves, these neighbors never seem to find the truth.

  1 Timothy 4:
  1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
  2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
  3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

“Seducing spirits” are part of what tempts us into accepting these “doctrines of devils” (being those things which have been outlined in the scripture above, and which are outlined elsewhere in scripture). This scripture is interesting in that it also shows the devilish doctrine of refusing to marry and the ungrateful lies of veganism.

  2 Timothy 4:
  3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
  4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Someone sixty years ago or more, hearing of our times, would have wondered how such a large segment of society could be led so far astray and be so secure in their deviance. Part of the answer is in “after their own lusts they heap to themselves teachers”.  There are other scriptures that elaborate on this idea, but essentially it’s like this: if an authority is making you feel uncomfortable as you pursue your lusts, how do you fix the situation? find a new authority! This terrible strategy whispered to man by the adversary is the seed that has caused so many different religions and sects to spread across the earth. Whenever there has been disagreement over doctrine, those who were listening to their pride rather than God have broken away and found or created a new authority to tell them that their sin/view was ok. Eventually this bad habit worked its way into society, and now we have places legislating corruption or permissiveness (which often leads to corruption!), and that gives the adversary – the devil – more of a firm hold on our friends because they can’t see the danger of their path when there is institutionalized support for it.
