They’re All The Same

I just clicked on the link of a friend’s friend in Facebook and read a pretty standard “liberal” profile. I see these all the time, and usually think nothing of them, but it was long in word count and began with the phrase, “I am a radically liberal and passionate person” and then went on to claim a hatred for bigotry.

Because the person set the stage by announcing their liberal stance, I knew I was bound to find numerous bigoted comments. Here’s a short tally.

Can We Lay This Smug Argument to Rest?

Yes, I know you want to seem clever and hip, but holding up a book you’ve never read and making a claim you know few will bother to put forth the effort to research is really childish.

Dear Bank of America (And Other Corporate Banks)

Dear Bank of America –

I have been a faithful customer for over a decade. I’ve been patient with you. When those anti-capitalists marched Wall Street I turned away and reminded those around me that you are a business and need to do something to stay in business. I thought that was true – after all, the government bail-outs, high interest rates on loans, and existing fees were used to provide better services to me, the consumer. I do want to voice some points of my dissatisfaction, however:

A New Era of Campaign Ads

I was watching CNN this afternoon and the strangest thing happened. “Breaking News” whisked us from the scheduled story to bring us a live political ad, direct from Obama’s White house.

Trayvon Martin Is Not a Good Cause for Anti-Gunners

We’ve all heard the story.

A black 17-year old in a hoodie, Trayvon Martin, went to a convenience store and bought a pack of Skittles and some iced Tea and was heading back to his father’s fiance’s house. He was on the phone with his girlfriend. George Zimmerman, a white night watchman, saw someone behaving in a way he felt was suspicious and phoned 911. Martin told his girlfriend there was someone suspicious following him.  He began to run. Zimmerman indicated he was following the suspect on foot, 911 told him not to. He shot Martin and Martin died. Police did not press charges. End of story.

Or is it?

Is the Mark of the Beast Really WWW?

Years ago I noticed that the Hebrew numerical equivalent for the letter W is 6. Though knowing better, I tried to spread the misinformation that WWW is equal to 666, and that the World Wide Web is the Mark of the Beast spoken of by John in  the Book of Revelation.

Chaz Bono

I know this is going to offend some people. Those people are probably not reading my blog anyway, so here it goes.

The headline says “Chaz Bono: America really needs him on Dancing With the Stars”.

It goes on to quote Bono as saying:

“It’s made me realize I’m really glad I’m doing this, because America really needs to see this. You know, it just kind of shows why it’s important to be on the show, because so little still is known about what it means to be transgender. And there’s so many just completely inaccurate stereotypes and thoughts people have.”

(msn.com, 2011)

Most Americans would just bite this quote and take it or leave it. InfoRodeo is not most Americans, however, so I’m going to ask the question nobody really thinks to ask when given the canned “stereotypes and awareness” speech:

What stereotypes are you talking about, and how are they inaccurate?

Illegals

“Interesting… If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 yrs. hard labor. If you cross the Afghanistan border illegally, you get shot. Two Americans just got eight years for crossing the Iranian border. If you cross the U. S. border illegally you get a job, a drivers license, food stamps, a place to live, health care, housing & child benefits, education,& a tax free business for 7 yrs…No wonder we are a country in debt. Re-post if you agree”

Osama bin Laden

I was going to write a conspiracy thread about the recent news. Why were we told that this happened a week ago and then told it was last night? Why has his body already been “buried at sea” (especially if his death was barely 12 hours ago)? Why did this happen a few days after Obama suddenly decided to supply his birth certificate? Was this a political stunt for re-election, was the birther diversion to help maintain secrecy about the bin Laden operation? Why are people who just days ago didn’t trust their president’s religion or patriotism suddenly cheering in the streets? Why is a president, so keen on this “religion of peace”, “stop the war” and “blame Bush” stuff, suddenly jump into his opposition’s throne?

Pro-Choice

As a male who was involved in an abortion, I believe the term “Pro-Choice” is a deceptive misnomer.
